Last week I went down to see my mum in Chippenham and I used Co Wheels to hire a car from Bristol. What a great experience and it is much cheaper than going to a commercial company
At our bed and breakfast in the Lake District we are members of Co Wheels which means you can register free with the social enterprise company and then hire one of their cars when you come up by train.
Their cars sit in the car park on the forecourt of Oxenholme and Windermere railway stations. They have on board computers that records the number of miles which you will be charged for. The fuel is paid for- you get your fuel using a Fuel Card at most petrol stations
One idea- get an early train- you’ll be surprised how easy it is to get to the Lakes by train from London, Bristol Newcastle or Glasgow bu arrive by lunch and book brunch
