Must do list in The Lake District for 2017

Sample the best of The Lake District

Michelin starred restaurants, food and music festivals, outdoor activities, theatres, shops, gardens and much more. This was a blog I did at the beginning of the year The Must Do List in The Lake District for 2017- and felt it worth repeating as you plan you stay hopefully here at our wonderful bed and breakfast in The Lake District

Sample the best of The Lake District

  1. We have 4 Michelin starred restaurants all within easy reach from 1 Park Road: The Samlin, Gilpin, Forest Side and L Enclume (our favourite is Gilpin)
  2. Tastes of Cumbria from herdwick lamb, artisan bakeries, the Lakes malt whisky, Kendal’s toffee vodka, 37 Cumbrian breweries and numerous food festivals such as Ulverstone and Cockermouth or Grasmere ginger bread
    Kendal Castle

  3. How about some history from Stott Park Bobbin Mill, Carlisle cathedral or wonder round the historical market town of Kendal
  4. Museums and exhibitions- we have a few! Barrow’s   Dock Museum, the Threlkeld Quarry and Mining       Museum, Laurel and Hardy Museum, Ruskin Museum to discover more about Donald Campbell, The Townend Farmhouse that is a yeoman’s farmhouse from yesteryear or Abbot Hall in Kendal where there is an exhibition of works from the National Gallery
  5. Or the great outdoors. We have a few hills, mountains, valleys and stunning views to see or why not test your bike brakes cycling down one of passes such as the Hardknott Pass or take part in various ultra extreme events such as the Great North Swim in June or the The Lakesman Triathlon or the Grasmere  Gallop
Cycle the Hardknott Pass
