We think exploring Ullswater is far more rewarding than wondering around Bowness and Lake Windermere with big crowds, noise and lots of pushing and barging- believe me
As a bed and breakfast in the Lake District we send many of our guests to Ullswater and what’s more, you get 10% off a ticket if you travel on the Ullswater Steamers
- Its quieter- Bowness is like very busy seaside resort where as Glenridding is very quiet and tranquil
- Beautiful drive up the Troutbeck valley and over the Kirkstone Pass and…. you can get there by bus (number 508 from Windermere to Penrith)
- Get a trip on one one of heritage Ullswater steamers and you’ll see some magnificent scenery
- The wildlife is something to behold
- There are some reasonable and not too demanding walks on The Ullswater Way- a path around the lake starting from Pooley Bridge or Howtown that you can get to by boat and then walk back along the shore of the lake to Glennridding- one of the few lakes you can walk round
