What is a Boutique Hotel? I am never sure. Is it the height of luxury with sunken baths, hot tubs various gadgets, small, discrete, unique, quiet, very individual and personable?
We think 1 Park Road is a Boutique Hotel in the lake district – it is small, discrete- the bed rooms have the gadgets- wi fi, I Players, flat screened TVs. They also have classy soaps and lotions from The White Company, bath robes and of up most importance, fresh coffee and tea leaves with cafetieres and tea pots and of course fresh milk. Tea without proper milk is not British!
We are unique as a bed and breakfast in that we have a lounge, we’re licensed with an unusually large range of bottled beers from Britain and Europe which reflects my interest, as well as wines from around the world; we offer pies and platter each evening and meals at the weekend.
And then there are our breakfasts which are nearly always commented on review sites such as Trip Advisor. Yeah the usual full English with locally bought homemade sausages, smoked bacon and organic eggs but there are all sorts of fruit salads, compotes, stewed fruits, yogurts, omelets and specials such as omelet Arnold Bennett, Eggs Benedict, kedgeree all very relaxed and personal with long conversations with and between the guests. The personal goes as far as offering gluten free, vegetarian or whatever diet guests require
So that seems to me to reflect a Boutique Hotel in the lake district.
