We love parkrun, though we’re usually too busy cooking breakfasts to be able to run ourselves.
But we know that our local parkrun at Fell Foot near Newby Bridge is one of the best in the country. It’s certainly the most scenic, as anyone who has run back from “the meadow” alongside the shore of Windermere, looking up at the distant mountains, will confirm.
At the moment they are using the emergency winter route after Storm Callum turned the meadow into a mud-dow, but it’s still a lovely venue, with a great team of local volunteers.
Our guests love going there, but there’s just one problem; when you come away to the Lakes for a weekend, part of the fun is treating yourself to a hearty Lakeland breakfast. Which doesn’t quite work when you then have to sprint three miles.
So we will do a late breakfast for you. Let us know when you book, and we can arrange to have breakfast ready when you get back from your parkrun. And there’s no rush, no pressure; in the spirit of parkrun, we don’t mind how fast or slow you are. Though it does work for some guests as an incentive, if they dream of eggs and bacon when they still have another lap to run.
